Jewish Ghetto and
Trastevere
Join us for a walk through the historic Jewish Ghetto, an
area rich in archaeology and natural beauty, and exemplary of the cultural
diversity which made Rome an empire. We’ll
cross the Tiber Island, where the majestic plane trees thunder along the river, then
venture into Trastevere, home of the Jews in antiquity. With its village-like feel and its quaint
piazzas, this area across the Tiber from the city center contains important Early Christian sites
as well, providing a sense of the convergent streams which make Rome the navel of Western Culture. On our full-day private tour, we lunch in the
Ghetto at da Giggetto’s, with its famous Carciofi alla Giudia and its Zuppa
alla Romana.
