A site of some mystery since the 700s B.C., when Etruscan priests went there to read patterns in the clouds and perform augury, from the glory of Michelangelo’s Sistine Ceiling to Bernini’s Baroque wizardry, explore the locus operandi of an organization that a third of the world’s population belongs to today.  An organization that has its own currency, its own banking system, untold billions in wealth and revenue; and that has perhaps wielded more power in the seventeen hundred years of its history than all other political systems combined . . .
